On the Road Project

During the Autumn/Winter months AVDC will be running a free project aimed at the 11 - 14 year olds by visiting Edlesborough Green on 9th November between 6pm and 8pm. There will be a skate park set up in the Pavilion Car Park together with a variety of sports and an i-van with lots of multi-media and interactive facilities, video and music software and the latest computer technology. A possible further visit will be made to Dagnall in February. Further details will be displayed on the Parish Notice Boards.

Edlesborough Play Area

The Parish Council are pleased to report that the wooden balancing beams have now been replaced by steel beams and the vandalised Galactica has been repaired. The Council apologise for the delay in getting these repairs carried out.

P.A.I.N (London-Luton Airport)

The Luton Airport Annual Monitoring Report for 2008 has recently been published. In 2008 the Airport handled 10.2 million passengers compared with 9.9 million in 2007. The number of commercial passenger aircraft movements increased by almost 3% but the total number of aircraft movements decreased by 2% as a result of fewer cargo and general aviation movements. The proportion of scheduled flights compared with charter flights continues to increase. There was a decrease in night movements compared to 2007. The split of Westerly to Easterly operations was very similar to previous years. The report indicates that a large proportion of Olney 26 flight path departures turn north before they reach the Parish, suggesting that during Westerly operations approximately 6% of departing aircraft overflew the Parish instead of 20% if all aircraft followed the designated flight path for longer. The Parish Council will be submitting it’s response to the NATS TCN consultation when received.

Allotments

The majority of the allotments throughout the Parish are let. There is currently a waiting list. Allotment tenants are reminded to inform the Clerk if they intend to give up their allotment in order that this can be re-let. Allotments which appear to be uncultivated for more than 3 months will be taken back by the Parish Council.

Remembrance Sunday

The service this year will take place at Edlesborough War Memorial. Road Closure and Diversion signs will be operating throughout Northall and Edlesborough whilst the Service is being held.

Litter Bins

Additional litter bins to be purchased and distributed around the Parish.
