Carnival
The Parish Council would like to thank all the children for their overwhelming contribution of photographs for the Anne Thompson Young Peoples Cup of Excellence. The overall winner of the Cup was Aimee Skinner and certificates have been given to all those taking part. The photographs attracted a great deal of interest from the public. It is anticipated that the Cup will be presented again next year covering a different theme.
The Parish Stall also covered The Vale of Aylesbury Plan (Edlesborough Neighbourhood Plan) and several parishioners have filled in the questionnaires. Copies of the Questionnaire for each of the 3 villages are available from the Clerk and parishioners are encouraged to respond.
Speed Limit Review – Area 13
The whole Parish has been devastated to hear from Bucks CC that money set aside for the completion of Area 13, which was due to be completed by this Autumn, has been 'clawed back' to be spent on pot-hole and road improvements. The Parish Council are currently in communication with Bucks CC attempting to get this decision reversed.
Website/e-mails
Unfortunately during the 3 weeks from 25th May to 17th June the Council suffered loss of communication due to problems with the 'server' and would apologise to any parishioners who were trying to send e-mails to the Clerk or visit the Edlesborough website during that period.
Activities on the Green
The Baptist Church will be holding 2 children's activities during August.
Songs of Praise will again be held on the Green on 11th September 2011.
Cemetery
The new gate to the bridleway should be installed in July with a sign attached 'NO PARKING Access required at all times' and an additional sign adjacent to the Churchyard wall 'KEEP CLEAR Access required for Horses and Riders'. Parishioners are requested not to park in front of the gates, or footpath access, as farm vehicles, contractors and Funeral Directors require to have access to the bridleway at all times. A roof will be put on the dustbin area of the Cemetery to prevent water from getting into the bins which, on numerous occasions, get so full that lids are unable to be put back on, 2 new bins have been put in this area in an attempt to ease the problem.
Bus Stop and white lining in Edlesborough High Street
The Council are in the process of setting up a meeting with Bucks CC to discuss the moving of the Bus Stop and the possibility of adding white lining to parts of the High Street.
